Our name „Zachraň jídlo“ could be translated as „Save Food“. We are a small enthusiastic team with a great plan: we have decided to reduce food waste in the Czech Republic. It all started in 2013, when we organized our first happening – Feast for a Thousand – during which we have served a thousand people to a meal made of food which would not be eaten otherwise. Since then, we arranged several happenings and awareness campaigns. We have also started the „Gleaning Project“ – collecting wonky vegetables in the fields. We spread information about food waste, and we connect people with a similar attitude.
It all started with a happening. Ever since our historically first event at Wenceslas Square in Prague, in the eyes of the public, we are inseparably connected to unconventional happenings. We believe that the best way to draw attention to the issue of food waste is to organize unforgettable events.
We do not underestimate the power of media, that is why we communicate with journalists and create informational campaigns on social media. These campaigns help us raise public awareness about food waste.
